The whole meadow was covered with them.
Bog Gentians in a meadow at about 5200 feet or so.
They are such a pretty deep blue color.
I watched the bees dive in and completely disappear inside for a bit before bursting back out. You can see one in flower on the right.
The before picture. There is a bee hidden in the foreground flower!
There the bee goes. I sit and watch. I am easily amused!

Scott hiking cross country. It got really steep up higher, although you can't tell that from this picture!
Scott and Old Chiwaukum in the background. Chiwaukum means 'Place where many streams meet' or something like that.
High altitude lupine. It has the same leaves and flower, just miniature!
Basin after the steep part, heading towards Deadhorse Pass. I think that might be Deadhorse to the left in this picture? Traveresed across boulder fie
Other view from basin.
View right from Deadhorse.
View from Deadhorse Pass.
That is McCue ridge to the left, where I've skied in the winter/Spring from Scottish Lakes.
Close up of Cup Lake
Closeup of Larch Lake. You can get here about 26 miles RT, I think, all on trail.
We didn't have time to go down today.

Another view of the pretty meadow we went through on cross country trip towards Deadhorse Pass. Meadows of bog gentians there!
