Dad and I at the trailhead.
On the bridge near the trailhead, ready to start out.
The trail starts out winding through trees burned in a fire ~ creating it's own kind of beauty.
Saw this little guy next to the trail.
Rest stop.
We thought these yellow ferns were so pretty and colorful.
Nada Lake behind.
Here we are above Nada Lake, with the rain coming down, heading quickly towards dusk. We should have camped here! But we powered on until Snow Lakes.
Raging waterfall behind us.
Well, we survived a night of putting up the tent in the rain nearing hypothermia, no light except for dad's little reading light, and no water filter..and no sign of Shawn or Kate. We don't yet know where they are.
My tiny little Sierra Designs tent.
Dad walking up from Upper Snow Lake with water to boil.
This is all we had the first night for light! And we had to set up camp and find water and cook dinner and hang the food with it. I will never let this happen again.
Dad with Nada Lake in the background on our hike back down to find Kate and Shawn.
After we found Kate and Shawn, safe and sound (they just decided to camp below at Nada Lake, as we should have!) I went on a day hike up to the Enchantments by myself, while everyone else stayed back to set up camp.
Self portrait, with Larch trees behind.
Pretty fall colors.
Self portrait ~ at Lake Viviane.
Another self portrait.
Lake Viviane and a larch tree. If you look CLOSELY, you can see the snow flying. It became a blizzard up there, and I hightailed out back down the trail to get back to camp while the trail was still visible in the snow!
I met these two on the trail ~ the boy on the left was doing a 20 mile day for a boy scout badge! Amazing! They went in the Colchuck trailhead, and out to Snow Lakes trailhead. He said he didn't like going up Asgard Pass.
The only picture I got of Kate and Shawn.. Kate with an allergic reaction causing her lip to swell (and later her hand).
